Treasures from the Past

Have you ever seen those people out on the beach with their metal detector in hand searching for treasure of some kind rather it be lost jewelry, coins, or maybe even ancient pirate loot?  I find it to be funny but I admire their patience and determination.  They intend on completing their agenda and bringing something home no matter how small or valuable.

I kind of feel the same way when I go antique shopping!  I love the hunt, the digging, the hope that something fantastic will catch my eye and warrant a special spot in our home.  Antiques are kind of like people in that they have already had a life and story somewhere....its neat to have little pieces of history mixed into daily life.  My interest for antiques has really peaked since Bradley and I started dating and we have acquired a number of items.  We have spent a lot of time exploring his families packhouses, barns and several local stores that we frequently visit.  It has become sort of a hobby for us.  Check out some of the things we have gotten.

This is Bradley's desk (he calls it a "dest").  It was from a legislative building years and years ago!

An old rocking chair modernized with a little paint.

My Dining Room Furniture Painted:
the buffet was light oak and the china cabinet was dark oak finish :)

As always, the treasure hunting will continue.  Stay tuned......
